With the cadaver in the prone position, abduct the arm as much as possible. This will allow the shoulder girdle to fall forward and provide better access to the dissection field. The deltoid muscle attaches to the lateral one-third of the clavicle, the lateral border of the acromion process of the scapula, and the spine of the scapula.
