Identify the various cutaneous nerves that pass through the superficial fascia to supply the skin (Figure 6.3). These are sensory branches of larger nerves that will be studied later.
The superior lateral brachial cutaneous nerve is a branch of the axillary nerve. It is located over the posterior aspect of the deltoid muscle.The medial brachial cutaneous nerve, also called the medial cutaneous nerve of the arm, arises directly from the medial cord of the brachial plexus. It was identified in Step 8 of the previous dissection. Its branches are located on the medial aspect of the arm.
