The profunda brachii artery [probe] is a large branch of the brachial artery. This branch arises near the beginning of the brachial artery and runs with the radial nerve to supply the muscles of the posterior compartment of the arm. Also identify the variable number of muscular branches [probe] of the brachial artery. Next, identify the superior and inferior collateral arteries which provide collateral circulation around the elbow joint. The superior ulnar collateral artery arises from the brachial artery about mid-arm. The superior ulnar collateral artery travels in parallel with the distal portion of the ulnar nerve and passes posterior to the medial epicondyle.Links and References: |
