At the wrist, identify the

• radiocarpal joint - between proximal row of carpal bones and the radius [view of the dorsum of the wrist with the probe indicating the position of the joint space, which has not been opened]
• ulnar collateral ligament - between ulna and triquetrum
• radial collateral ligament - between radius and scaphoid bone Note: Since the scaphoid bone is the carpal bone which primarily forms the articulation with the radius, it is the carpal bone which is most likely to be fractured or dislocated in falls on an out-stretched hand.
