Place the cadaver in the prone position and remove the deep (crural) fascia of the posterior leg. Identify the medial head of gastrocnemius muscle and lateral head of gastrocnemius muscle. Distally, the gastrocnemius muscle inserts into the calcaneus via the calcaneal tendon (also called Achilles tendon) [two probes].
