The objective of this dissection is to study the organization of the extrinsic and intrinsic muscles of the foot, as well as the terminal branches of the tibial nerve and posterior tibial artery. Steps 1 and 2 describe the dissection and identification of structures on the dorsum of the foot. Steps 3 through 9 describe the dissection and identification of structures on the plantar surface (or sole) of the foot. The muscles of the sole of the foot are organized in four layers. This pattern will be described during the dissection. |
