Initially, the anatomy of the bony thorax and the intercostal muscles will be examined. During laboratory exercises the anterior thoracic wall will be removed to study the structures within the thoracic cavity. If the extrinsic muscles of the thoracic wall (i.e., pectoralis major muscle, and pectoralis minor muscle, and serratus anterior muscle) have not yet been studied, see Laboratory Four for dissection instructions. |
