To expose the interior of the right ventricle, insert a probe into the pulmonary trunk and establish the level of the pulmonary valve. Below the level of this valve, make an incision in the anterior wall of the right ventricle [cross-section] [cross-section ] (Figure 20.5) that is parallel to, and about 1 or 2 cm inferior to, the coronary groove. From the superior end of the first incision, make a cut towards the apex of the heart that is parallel to and about 1 or 2 cm lateral to the anterior interventricular sulcus. Open the flap made in the anterior wall of the right ventricle and carefully remove any clotted blood.Links and References:
