Go to Figure 20.1 and:
- Identify the position of the heart and great vessels in relation to the sternum
- Identify the intercostal spaces in which the various sounds of the heart are best identified. Consult a physical diagnosis text.
This latter identification can be conducted best after the heart has been removed and studied and replaced in the pericardial sac with the anterior chest plate placed over it.Links and References:
