(1 of 3) The distribution of sensory nerves on the face will be studied next. These sensory branches arise from the three divisions of the trigeminal nerve (CN V). The three divisions are the ophthalmic nerve (V1), maxillary nerve (V2), and mandibular nerve (V3).
Branches of the ophthalmic nerve (V1) supply the skin of the upper eyelid above each orbit and on the lateral side of the nose. The branches are the supraorbital nerve, supratrochlear nerve, infratrochlear nerve, lacrimal nerve, and external nasal nerve.
