In this laboratory the calvaria [coronal section] will be removed to: 1) study the organization of the brain
coverings, the meninges,
2) identify the various dural venous
sinuses,
3) identify the twelve cranial nerves as
they course toward or into foraminae
in the base of the skull, and
4) identify the anatomical characteristics
of each cranial fossa.
In addition, the relationship of the twelve cranial nerves and arteries on the inferior surface of the brain will be studied after the brain has been removed.
