In this anterior approach to the orbit, the extraocular muscles of the eyeball will be studied. Initially, dissect and reflect the orbicularis oculi muscle . As the orbicularis oculi muscle is elevated, identify the lacrimal canaliculi that drain tears from the lacrimal papilla to the lacrimal sac. Also, observe the inferior oblique muscle . Next, lift and remove the orbicularis oculi muscle, eyelids, and periorbital fat.
