The pharyngeal wall is made up of four layers:
- inner mucosal layer
- fibrous layer (pharyngobasilar fascia) [cross-section]
- muscular layer
- outer fascial layer, (buccopharyngeal fascia)
Remove the buccopharyngeal fascia and examine the orientation of the muscle fibers of the pharynx.
