The ostium (opening) [tip of probe] of the sphenoid sinus opens into the sphenoethmoidal recess, the space posterior and superior to the superior nasal turbinate (Figure 33.4). Upon completion of steps 1-7, the pterygopalatine fossa, the site where several important branches arise from the maxillary nerve V2 and the maxillary artery will be studied.
