In the anterior axillary line, make a longitudinal incision through the external abdominal oblique muscle from the costal margin to the iliac crest (Figure 35.6). From the inferior end of this incision, make a second incision passing inferiiorly and anteriorly through the external abdominal oblique muscle and its aponeurosis. The incision should end at the upper border of the superficial inguinal ring . Reflect the cut portion of the external abdominal oblique muscle . Next, detach the external abdominal oblique muscle from the ribs , and reflect this portion of the muscle medially toward the linea semilunaris . Links and References:
