Step 9. The Epididymis

On the posterosuperior aspect of the testis, identify the epididymis (Figure 36.5A). It serves as a reservoir for the spermatozoa produced by the testis. Identify the three regions of the epididymis:

head of the epididymis on the superior pole of the testis
body of the epididymis on the posterior aspect of the testis along its bare area
tail of the epididymis located near the inferior pole of the testis

All three parts of the epididymis are formed by the single highly coiled tube, known as ductus epididymis, which is continuous
with the ductus deferens.
