Two Options: A) The structures that enter the liver through the porta hepatis, i.e., the proper hepatic artery, the portal vein and common bile duct, do not need to be cut to study the liver. With the liver freed from the diaphragm, these vessels and duct can be reflected with the liver.
B) If the liver is to be removed (consult your instructor), sever the hepatoduodenal ligament and all structures within.Links and References:
