(1 of 2) Remove the liver, spleen, stomach, and the intestines to facilitate the dissection of the retroperitoneal space and posterior abdominal wall. First, remove the liver from the abdominal cavity in the following manner. The coronary ligament of the liver was cut earlier when the liver was retracted. Now, cut the inferior vena cava at the inferior margin of the liver. Cut the structures of the portal triad (proper hepatic artery, hepatic portal vein and common bile duct at the level as they pass in the free edge of the lesser omentum).
