Follow the course of the gonadal (testicular or ovarian) arteries as they arise from the aorta at the level of the L2 vertebra. As they pass inferiorly to the pelvis, they cross anterior to the ureter and common iliac vessels. In the female, they pass through the suspensory ligament of the ovary to supply the oviduct and the ovary. In the male, they pass through the inguinal canal and become enclosed within the spermatic cord. Links and References:
