Now, dissect the region of the urogenital triangle. As this is done, the structures located in the superficial perineal pouch will be identified. The superficial perineal pouch lies between the Colles' fascia and the inferior fascia of the urogenital diaphragm. Anteriorly, it extends to the potential space between the superficial fascia and the anterior abdominal muscles. Posteriorly, the superficial perineal pouch is bounded by the superficial transverse perineal muscles and the perineal body. Lateral it extends to the ischiopubic rami. Remove the remaining skin of the scrotum and superficial fascia. The superficial perineal pouch contains the crura of the penis, bulb of the penis, and associated nerves and vessels (Figure 42.5). Identify the branches of the internal pudendal vessels and the superficial branches of the perineal nerve. In the male, these branches are called
the posterior scrotal nerves and vessels (Figure 42.3).
