. Cut the soft tissues in the midline with a knife or scalpel and extend the cut through the sacrum and lumbar vertebra with the saw . Upon completion of the hemisection, identify the following structures in the female pelvis for orientation purposes (Figure 43.3). They are, from anterior to posterior:
- urinary bladder located immediately posterior to the pubic symphysis
- urethra
- uterus
- vagina
- rectum
- anal canal
