To facilitate the study of the internal organs of the pelvis, hemisect the pelvis . Cut the soft tissues in the midline with a knife or scalpel and extend the cut through the sacrum and lumbar vertebra with the saw . Upon completion of the hemisection, identify the following structures in the female pelvis for orientation purposes (Figure 43.3). They are, from anterior to posterior:
