(1 of 3) Identify the peritoneum and study its distribution within the pelvic cavity. Anteriorly, the peritoneum covers the apex, the superior surface and part of the posterior surface of the urinary bladder. Lateral to the urinary bladder, identify reflections of the peritoneum onto the lateral wall of the pelvis, called false ligaments of the bladder. Spaces lateral to the bladder lined by the peritoneum are called the paravesical fossae. Links and References: |
