Most of these cutaneous nerves are sensory branches of larger nerves that will be studied later. Identify the following cutaneous nerves of the anterior thigh and leg:

• lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, anterior branches (a branch of the lumbar plexus) located over the upper lateral aspect of the thigh
• intermediate and medial femoral cutaneous nerves (branches of the femoral nerve) located on the anterior and lower medial aspect of the thigh
• obturator nerve, cutaneous branches located on the upper medial aspect of the thigh
• saphenous nerve (a branch of the femoral nerve) located on the anterior and medial aspect of the leg
