Return to the femoral triangle, and again identify the femoral nerve. At the base of the femoral triangle, identify the muscular branches of the femoral nerve [probe; the sartorius muscle is elevated and held by retractor] and follow them to the quadriceps femoris muscle, sartorius muscle, and pectineus muscle. The pectineus muscle is also innervated by a branch of the obturator nerve. The cutaneous branches of the femoral nerve were identified previously ( see Laboratory Eleven). If the intermediate and medial femoral cutaneous nerves are still intact, trace them to their origin from the femoral nerve. Links and References:
