On the medial aspect of the thigh identify the gracilis muscle. Its origin is from the pubic bone near the origins of the adductor longus muscle and pectineus muscle.
To expose the underlying adductor brevis muscle, cut the adductor longus muscle about 5 cm inferior to its origin from the pubic bone and reflect the adductor longus muscle distally
. Next, cut the pectineus muscle near its origin and reflect the pectineus muscle [held by the forceps; the adductor longus muscle is held by the retractor] distally. Now, identify the adductor brevis muscle [its superior and inferior borders are indicated by the two probes].
