Identify the major branches (or divisions) of the obturator nerve, which are closely associated with the adductor brevis muscle [two probes]. The anterior division of the obturator nerve passes anterior to adductor brevis muscle; the posterior division of the obturator nerve passes posterior to adductor brevis muscle. Note that the posterior division passes between the adductor brevis muscle and adductor magnus muscle and gives branches to both of them. With the adductor muscles now clean, examine the profunda femoris artery, the profunda femoris is indicated by the upper probe, the femoral artery is held by the retractor, and the femoral nerve is held by the lower probe] and identify its four perforating branches.
