The articular (lunate) surface of the acetabulum [another specimen] and the articular surface of the head of the femur [another specimen ], except at the attachment of the round ligament [another specimen ], are covered with hyaline cartilage. The remainder of the internal surface of the joint cavity is lined with synovial membrane .
