Insert your finger between the ribs and push the underlying costal pleura and internal thoracic vessels away from the second through sixth ribs. Use a Striker saw to cut through ribs 2 to 6 at the mid-axillary line. Next, cut transversely through the manubrium just inferior to the attachment of the first ribs. Then cut transversely through the body of the sternum just above its junction with the xiphoid process. As the cuts are made, be careful not to damage underlying structures.Links and References: |
