Identify the following sensory branches of the trigeminal nerve:
- supraorbital nerve as it passes through the supraorbital foramen
- infraorbital nerve as it passes through the infraorbital foramen
- mental nerve as it passes through the mental foramen
Note that the supraorbital, infraorbital and mental foramina lie in the same parasagittal plane.
Refer to an atlas or a reference text and review the pattern of nerve distribution for each major division of the trigeminal nerve on the superficial face. Other branches of each of the three trigeminal nerve divisions will be studied during dissection of the orbit and deep face.
