within the cranial cavity. The dura mater forms three inward projections that partition the cranial cavity:
- falx cerebri [cross-section] [frontal section]
- tentorium cerebelli
- falx cerebelli [probe, isolated specimen]
Examine the free edge of the tentorium cerebelli which forms the tentorial notch
. Its edge is non-giving and during severe edema of the brain can cause strangulation of the brain stem.
