Cut the dura mater
from the floor of the middle of the cranial fossa and
reflect it anteriorly

Identify:
arcuate eminence
, which is an elevation due to the location of the underlying superior semicircular canal of the inner ear and
facial hiatus
, which is the opening through which
the
greater petrosal nerve
exits the temporal bone
