With portions of the temporal bone removed, identify other structures relative to the three divisions of the ear. Locate the internal carotid artery as it passes through the temporal bone near the cochlear duct. Also, observe the superior surface of the articular disc of the temporomandibular joint that is anterior to the middle ear and external ear canal.
