First, enlarge the ostium of the maxillary sinus and inspect the internal mucosal surfaces of the sinus. The mucosal lining of the maxillary sinus is continuous with the lining of the other paranasal sinuses and the nasal cavity proper. Remove the mucosal from the roof of the maxillary sinus and identify the infraorbital nerve and vessels [infraorbital nerve , infraorbital artery].
