. Reflect the segments of transected muscle superiorly and inferiorly . The rectus abdominis muscle is supplied by the branches of the superior epigastric artery and inferior epigastric artery , both arteries are accompanied by veins, e.g., the inferior epigastric vein. These vessels enter the muscle from its deep surface. Near the level of umbilicus, branches of the two arteries anastomose. The inferior epigastric artery is a branch of the external iliac artery. The superior epigastric artery is a terminal branch of the internal thoracic artery.
