The lateral umbilical folds overlie the inferior epigastric vessels, which enter the rectus sheath and supply the rectus abdominis muscle.
Now, identify the paired peritoneal fossae which lie between the peritoneal folds in the lower part of the inner surface of the anterior abdominal wall (Figure 36.3):- supravesical fossae
, between the median umbilical fold and the medial umbilical folds - medial inguinal fossae, between the medial umbilical folds and the lateral umbilical folds.
- lateral inguinal fossae, just lateral to the lateral inguinal folds, and containing the deep inguinal rings.
