• The ductus (vas) deferens is the most posterior structure in the spermatic cord. It can be identified by its hard, cord-like texture. It is supplied by the artery to the vas deferens (deferential artery).
• The testicular artery is surrounded by the pampiniform venous plexus . At the level of the deep inguinal ring, the vessels of the pampiniform venous plexus converge to form a single testicular vein.
• The genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve (L1-L2) which innervates the cremaster muscle is usually located on the surface of the cremasteric fascia.
• The ilioinguinal nerve (L1) which was previously identified at the superficial inguinal ring. Lies on the anterior surface of the external spermatic fascia.
