(1 of 2) With the coverings of the spermatic cord freed from the testis, identify the coverings of the testis, which are derived from the abdominal peritoneum (Figure 36.5A , Figure 36.5B). The anterolateral surface of each testis is covered by a serous membrane, the tunica vaginalis, which forms a closed sac. Open this sac by making a vertical incision along the anterior surface of the parietal (outer) layer of the tunica vaginalis . Identify the cavity of the tunica vaginalis. The anterolateral aspect of the testis is covered by the visceral (inner) layer of the tunica vaginalis . Links and References:
