Examine the posterior aspect of the testis. Confirm that the posterior surface of the testis is not covered by the tunica vaginalis; this region therefore, is called the bare area of the testis. Anterior to the bare area, identify the line of reflection where the visceral layer of the tunica vaginalis becomes continuous with the parietal layer of the tunica vaginalis. This reflection forms the mesentery of the testis known as the mesorchium. The blood vessels, nerves and ducts which travel in and out of the testis pass through this region. Links and References: |
