Reflect the greater omentum and transverse colon superiorly . Draw the loops of small intestine, the jejunum and the ileum, inferiorly and to the left, so that the right surface of the mesentery is exposed. Use blunt dissection to remove the peritoneum along the root of the mesentery, beginning at the duodenojejunal junction and ending at the ileocecal junction.
