Study the arteries and veins of the suprarenal glands. There are three sets of arteries which supply each suprarenal gland:
- superior suprarenal arteries
, branches of the inferior phrenic artery. - middle suprarenal arteries , arising directly from the aorta.
- inferior suprarenal arteries , arising from the renal arteries.
In contrast, there is only one suprarenal vein associated with each gland. Identify the venous drainage of each suprarenal gland. The right suprarenal vein empties directly into the inferior vena cava. The left suprarenal vein drains into the left renal vein.
