Lateral to the crura, identify the medial arcuate ligament and lateral arcuate ligament. The medial arcuate ligament attaches to the body and transverse process of the L1 vertebra. The medial arcuate ligament is located anterior to the psoas major muscle. The lateral arcuate ligament attaches to the transverse process of the L1 vertebra and distal end of the 12th rib. The lateral arcuate ligament spans over the fascia of the quadratus lumborum muscle (Figure 40.4). Links and References: |
