At the distal end of the infundibulum, identify the opening called the abdominal ostium of the oviduct, which is surrounded by the fimbriae. The small finger-like fimbriae project from the distal ends on the oviduct to the ovary. The abdominal ostium of the oviduct is the point of communication between the lumen of the oviduct and peritoneal cavity.
