8. Abdomen CT #1, axial plane

Images #8–12 are five images from an abdominal CT scan performed after the administration of oral contrast; this accounts for the high atenuation (i.e., dense) substance whitening the lumen of some portions of the GI tract.

The current slice image is approximately at the level of T11 vertebra. Fat is visualized within the fissure for the ligamentum teres. This fissure separates the medial and lateral segments of the left hepatic lobe. The right adrenal gland lies between the right lobe of the liver and the right crus of the diaphragm. The left adrenal gland has the shape of an inverted Y at this level. The tail of the pancreas is adjacent to the splenic hilum.
