2. L. hip radiograph, "frog leg" lateral projectionThis view provides a useful but imperfect lateral perspective of the femoral head, neck and upper shaft. The neck appears foreshortened in external rotation because of its anterior angulation (anteversion) at its union with the femoral shaft. This projection cannot be used after injuries when hip joint motion is limited and painful. It is useful for suspected hip abnormalities in children. |
