12. Chest (mediastinum) MRI #5, axial planeThe plane of imaging is through the T6 vertebra, just below the carina; hence the proximal left and right main bronchi are visualized. The great arterial trunks, the ascending aorta and main pulmonary artery, have just emerged from the heart. The bifurcation of the latter into right and left pulmonary arteries is well seen. The azygos vein has arched anteriorly to the right of the trachea to drain into the superior vena cava just above the plane of this image. |
