16. Arteriogram — R. coronary artery, LAO projectionFor both this image and the following one (#17, L. coronary arteriogram) the catheter was introduced via the femoral artery and then passes retrograde via the iliac arteries into the aorta; here the tip was positioned at the aortic root in the origin of the R. coronary artery. The R. coronary artery arises from the anterior aortic sinus and descends in the right atrioventricular groove, giving off branches to the right atrium and the right ventricle. It ends by anastomosing with the L. coronary artery in the posterior interventricular groove. The posterior interventricular branch is somewhat forshortened in this LAO projection since the apex points out toward the viewer in this orientation. |
